Here’s to the Hops: Tualatin Valley’s Own Professional Baseball Team
In 2012, Oregon’s Washington County welcomed the Single-A, minor league, Hillsboro Hops, a farm team for Major League Baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks. In just two short seasons, the Hops earned the title of Northwest League Champions, which they clinched two years in a row!
The franchise relocated to Hillsboro in 2012 and played its inaugural 2013 season in a new state-of-the-art 4,500 seat stadium.
The Hillsboro Hops has dominated the Northwest since it came to the Tualatin Valley.
The Hops are part of the 55-year old Northwest League, which includes teams in Boise, Eugene, Salem-Keizer, Tri-Cities, Spokane, Everett and Vancouver BC. Major League stars who rose to prominence via the Northwest League include: Ken Griffey Jr., Felix Hernandez, Edgar Martinez, Reggie Jackson, Ozzie Smith, Rickey Henderson and Tony Gwynn.
