BEAVERTON’S DEADSTOCK COFFEE

Sneakerhead Culture Arrives in Downtown Beaverton at Deadstock Coffee

To call Ian Williams, the owner of Deadstock Coffee, a “sneakerhead” is an understatement. This former Nike designer has built his career around sneaker culture.

After a career with Nike–he started as a janitor and worked his way to a footwear developer–Ian started Deadstock Coffee (Map It) in Portland eight years ago. In 2024, he expanded his sneaker-themed coffee shop to Tualatin Valley with a new shop in downtown Beaverton, just two miles from Nike World Headquarters.

With the tag line “Coffee should be dope,” Deadstock Coffee prides itself on being “snob-free” and making coffee accessible to everyone. All the while, he envisions his shop to be a place to build a community, quite like Black barber shops, where regulars build a community with each other. “Coffee is the vehicle to put people together,” Ian has said.

Deadstock roasts and brews their own coffee, with the signature drink, a mocha, featuring a sneaker stencil. (Ian assures us that the barista can put a sneaker stencil on anything made with steamed milk.)
