The Portland region’s preeminent professional musical theater company, Broadway Rose (map it), is a nationally acclaimed and award-winning company that brings well-known musicals as well as little-known and original shows to Tualatin Valley. This fall, Broadway Rose brings Million Dollar Quartet to the stage, a retelling of the night when Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash shared an unforgettable jam session. Broadway Rose also kicks off the holiday season with Silver Belles, a festive show where twangy new country tunes and holiday classics celebrate community, lasting friendship, and the enduring power of chosen family.
BAG&BAGGAGE PRODUCTIONS
Bag&Baggage (map it) is known for its ambitious live performances of plays that build connections, spark conversations and bring great storytelling to audiences. This fall, they bring a couple of esteemed plays to the stage. Neil Simon’s classic comedy, Barefoot in the Park is a fast and joyful story about love and compromise. Just in time for “spooky season,” The Woman in Black is one of the most celebrated ghost stories, providing a chilling theater experience.
EXPERIENCE THEATRE PROJECT
Tualatin Valley’s only professional immersive-theater company, where the space between actors and audience is blurred, Experience Theatre Project (map it), is bringing a trio of diverse productions to its intimate space in Aloha. Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None is an immersive production of the classic whodunit story where mysterious deaths mirror the verses of a sinister nursery rhyme. The Rise of Houdini is a burlesque and magic show where a seance attempts to raise the great Harry Houdini, but things may not be what they seem. Finally, La Gringa by Carmen Rivera follows a young woman on a journey to Puerto Rico to connect with her roots. It is presented in Spanish with English Subtitles.
HART THEATRE
Hillsboro Artists’ Regional Theatre (map it) is a community theater company in downtown Hillsboro. This fall, three productions, including a children’s show, will grace the stage. Drinking Habits is a farcical tale of mistaken identities and romance. Alice in Wonderland Jr., with music and lyrics by Danny Elfman, is a 60-minute adaptation of the classic animated film. For one night only, Tales from the Dark is an evening of original staged reading by local playwrights.
