Digital Marketing Specialist

Tualatin Valley Our Oregon and WCVA logosThe Washington County Visitors Association is seeking a Digital Marketing Specialist. This position is responsible for the organization’s digital marketing and communications efforts and implementing the organization’s digital roadmap, which includes, but is not limited to writing content and implementing campaigns for social media, website, and other marketing projects as directed. The Digital Marketing Specialist also will oversee and maintain the appearance and functionality of the WCVA’s website, tualatinvalley.org. Maintenance includes daily review of the site’s overall appearance and functionality (e.g. check for broken links, speed, outdated content, etc.) and identifying and resolving issues relating to the website. This position is located in Beaverton, Oregon.

Digital Marketing Specialist
Full-time (40 hours per week); non-Exempt; hourly
Reports to: Vice President of Marketing & Communications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

The ideal candidate must be proficient in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest, have in-depth working knowledge of website and social analytics and how to interpret data, and know how to edit photos and videos for online/social media campaigns.

  • Strong and creative written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write creatively and generate creative ideas
  • Expert knowledge of English grammar, spelling and usage; excellent proofreading and editing skills
  • Able to write concisely in the short-form for social media purposes
  • Proficient and extremely knowledgeable about social media and website best practices
  • Experience managing brand social media accounts
  • Working knowledge of SEO, analytics, WordPress, CRMs and CMS, and other social marketing functions; HTML and CSS knowledge is a plus
  • Working knowledge of photo and video editing
  • Ability to think creatively and offer solutions to marketing roadblocks
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, specifically relating to website issues
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and able to prioritize projects and meet deadlines

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION & SOCIAL MEDIA

  • Create online content: writing content for all digital platforms (website, e-newsletters, social media), selecting photography and videos, creating and updating listings and events, as needed
  • Ensure consistency of messages across all branded digital platforms, that content is accurate, timely and relevant and working with all departments to ensure consistent communication delivery
  • Manage the WCVA’s social media brand pages and platforms, including, but not limited to: Posting and monitoring engagement on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram; monitoring engagement on YouTube and destination-related social marketing pages; and responding to community conversation on social networks
  • Research and implement trends in social and digital marketing; researching and developing ideas, tools, etc. for further product development
  • Co-manage and implement the organization’s content editorial calendar

 WEBSITE MANAGEMENT

  • Perform daily tests of the website across browsers, operating systems and devices
  • Perform quarterly audits of website content to ensure all information is correct and up-to-date, and SEO-compliant photography and videos are up-to-date
  • Optimize loading speeds and capacity
  • Monitor and analyze site performance via Google Analytics
  • Debug pages and fix broken links and/or images
  • Maintain the CRMs used to distribute content to the website and address any issues or problems
  • Work with the WCVA’s website maintenance contractor to identify and resolve issues relating to the WCVA’s website

PHOTO & VIDEO LIBRARY MANAGEMENT

  • Manage and organize the photo and video library
  • Edit photographs and video for online usage
  • Upload and manage videos on the WCVA’s YouTube Channel
  • Upload photographs to the WCVA’s Flickr and media photo gallery

ANALYTICS & REPORTING

  • Report regularly on social media analytics
  • Analyze the growth and health of the organization’s social media efforts
  • Report regularly on social media analytics

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working on branded social media platforms and websites
  • Experience managing successful social media campaigns and a solid understanding of social marketing
  • Tourism/destination marketing experience is a plus, but not required

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Analytical thinker and be able to gather and decipher analytic and other detail, including ability to explain concepts and ideas in non-technical terms
  • Experience working with database/customer relationship management systems (CRMs), content management systems (CMS), including WordPress, and e-mail marketing/e-newsletter software
  • Experience working in Adobe products, including but not limited to Photoshop, Acrobat, Flash
  • Proficient in using Microsoft products, including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of working in video editing and photo management software
  • Experience with working on a MAC
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics and other analytic programs
  • Understanding of privacy policies and opt-in/opt-out policies, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.

About the Washington County Visitors Association

Established in 1983, the Washington County Visitors Association (WCVA) is a not-for-profit, 501(c) (6) destination and marketing organization (DMO) located in central Beaverton. The WCVA is responsible for marketing and promoting Tualatin Valley (Washington County, Oregon) as a travel destination to a variety of audiences. The WCVA is funded solely by transient lodging taxes (or room tax) paid by tourists, business travelers and other visitors for short-term stays in hotels, motels, AirBnB, camping and RV parks. The WCVA receives 2.33 percent of Washington County 9% room tax collected. The WCVA revenues are used for destination development and marketing Washington County as a tourism destination.
