BEAVERTON, Ore. (Mar. 8, 2024) – Explore Tualatin Valley (ETV) announced today that it is awarding a $2 million strategic investment for the construction of a new ballpark in Hillsboro. ETV, formerly known as the Washington County Visitors Association, is a destination marketing organization dedicated to promoting Washington County, Oregon, as a tourism destination. ETV is funded solely by transient lodging taxes collected by hotels in the county.

On March 7, the Oregon State Legislature approved the final $15 million to fully fund the construction of a new city-owned ballpark, which will be the new home to the Hillsboro Hops, a High-A, minor league team affiliated with Major League Baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks.
Explore Tualatin Valley’s $2 million strategic investment, along with the $18 million investment from the City of Hillsboro, $8 million from Washington County, $82 million in private funding and the $15 million approved by the Oregon State Legislature, is expected to cover the cost of the project.
Once completed, the new ballpark will be a year-round outdoor entertainment venue designed to accommodate 6,000 people for baseball and up to 7,000 for concerts and other events. Construction is expected to begin this summer, with the project expected to be completed prior to the 2026 Hops baseball season.
