Hotels with Winter Perks

Winter is an unpredictable beauty, especially in Tualatin Valley. There are days of vibrant sunshine intermixed with days of moody fog and, of course, the days of downpour for which Oregon is known. We love it all. The unpredictability of the weather is tempered by the steady predictability of our hotels with winter perks. No matter the weather outside, you know you have a warm bed and amenities aplenty waiting for you at your hotel of choice. Below, we’re detailing a few hotels with winter perks we look forward to year after year.

Indoor and heated Pools

Pool days aren’t just for summer. Some of the area’s newer hotels, such as Embassy Suites Hillsboro and Aloft Hillsboro-Beaverton—have swanky indoor pools. Claim a chair, bring a book, and take a dip whenever you feel like it. During a recent stay at the Embassy Suites Hillsboro, three young girls were having a birthday weekend at the hotel. Of course, an evening dip in the perfectly tempered pool was the perfect perk to their extra special slumber party.

In addition to great indoor pool options, we’d be remiss to not mention the outdoor mineral soaking pool at the McMenamins Grand Lodge. The heated mineral salt water pool is surrounded by natural rock formations and lush landscaping. As the pool is only open to hotel guests in the evening, you’ll have ample space to lounge in the healing waters—with a cocktail in hand.

Fireplaces

The McMenamins Grand Lodge is also known for its many fireplaces throughout the property. The Billy Scott Bar has one of our favorite fireplaces (it is a bar, after all). On a drizzly day, curl up by the cozy fire with one of the bar’s specialty coffee cocktails. The Billy Scott Bar has a jazz theme to it; so expect some soothing tunes to be playing on vinyl, as well.

The Grand Hotel at Bridgeport offers another cushy fireplace right in its lobby. In the winter, we suggest heading to the nearby Bridgeport Village for shopping, dinner and a movie and the IMAX theater. After the show, warm yourself by the fire and discuss your favorite Oscar contenders.

In-Room Amenities

Not everyone wants to put on a swimsuit in the winter. We get it. You can still be a water baby, though, when you book a Luxury Jacuzzi King room at The Orenco hotel. The spa bathroom and jetted Jacuzzi bathtub will entice you to cancel your evening plans in favor of a good soak.

You can also just take in views of the water, too, with lakeside rooms at the Century Hotel. Some of our favorite winter sunsets have been seen (or photographed!) from the balcony of a room at this fantastic hotel. We often use dreary weather as an excuse for room service, which the hotel offers with a menu from the outstanding Hayden’s Lakefront Grill.

Go ahead—plan your winter getaway in Tualatin Valley. After the winter activities, extra perks and luxuries will be waiting for you at whatever overnight accommodations you choose.
