Community Events to Savor

Here in Tualatin Valley, several community events are a perfect complement to a weekend getaway, or even inspire a getaway to our destination. Here are some of the community events that welcome visitors to celebrate the sights, sounds and tastes of Tualatin Valley.

Hillsboro Hops stadium

Catch the boys of summer at a Hillsboro Hops baseball game. The Hops’ first home game is June 21st, versus the Vancouver Canadians. The season runs through August, when they play their last scheduled home game against the Boise Hawks, August 30.

Revel in the world of flight at the annual Tigard Festival of Balloons, June 21-23. Catch the early-morning balloon launches or catch the evening night glow. During the afternoon, spend the day riding carnival rides, listening to live music, playing games and noshing on carnival treats.

Downtown Beaverton will have it’s first ever Pride Parade and Pride in the Park, June 23. Celebrate Pride Month with a colorful parade, followed by Pride in the Park, a family-friendly afternoon of entertainment, food, drinks, crafters and more.

Celebrate the 65th anniversary of Sherwood’s Robin Hood Festival, July 19-21. This free community event comes complete with a medieval parade, sword fights, archery competition, live music and a host of activities and food.

The Washington County Fair rolls into Hillsboro July 25-28 for a weekend of carnival rides, live music and entertainment, food and more. This year’s headliners include Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Chris Janson, and Old Dominion.

The Tualatin Crawfish Festival returns to Tualatin Valley, August 2-3.  Enjoy two days of food, live entertainment, games and activities. Participate in a crawfish eating contest, or simply nosh on crawfish and enjoy the festivities.

Stop and smell the garlic at the  22nd Annual Elephant Garlic Festival, August 9-11, in North Plains. This fun-filled, three-day festival celebrates all things garlic, and offers a robust slate of food, music and entertainment, as well as a half marathon, 10K Run and 5K Run/Walk on Saturday.
