Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer for many people but it’s really a day to remember and honor those who lost their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
While most Oregon counties have begun to reopen, travel and large gatherings still aren’t recommended due to COVID-19. That means many of the barbecues and wine tasting festivities that usual accompany the holiday won’t be happening this year, but one Tualatin Valley business is still honoring service members as they do every day.
Dauntless Wine Company
Dauntless Wine Company is a veteran founded and owned winery that serves veterans through charitable contributions and mentorship.
This year, Dauntless Wines is donating a portion of the proceeds from Memorial Day packs to Folds of Honor. The packs will also include a card featuring service members who died while serving. The commemorative packs are three, six or 12 bottles featuring their “Thud” Blac de Noir, No Man’s Land Pinot Noir and Howitzer Pinot Noir.
Dauntless offers contactless curbside pickup, free local delivery when you buy three or more bottles and free shipping when you buy 12.
Veterans Memorial Park
Beaverton is also home to a wonderful memorial to veterans and those who lost their lives. The Veterans Memorial Park is a one-acre park in central Beaverton with grassy areas, picnic tables and monuments made from military artifacts. The park is dedicated to all branches of service.
Due to COVID-19, traveling and unnecessary outings are still discouraged but you can take a look at the park via this gallery and visit in the future.
