Running errands takes a bit more forethought these days but it’s still possible to plan a day at home in Tualatin Valley. Recommendations for shopping these days include ordering in advance, wearing a cloth face covering and sending only one person into shops. Call ahead to make your orders, then enjoy a day in!

South Store Cafe in Hillsboro just reopened for takeout and is ready to serve up some tasty treats for breakfast and lunch. Venture out to pick up a sandwich and fresh baked pastries from this favorite spot.

It’s not too late to start your backyard garden! Just down the road from South Store Cafe is Smith Berry Barn. Order online before you visit and pick up some flowers, organic vegetable starts and seeds.

The shop also has fresh produce and gourmet food items if you’re planning to cook dinner at home.

In this rural part of Tualatin Valley, you aren’t far from Ponzi Vineyard and Alloro Vineyard. So why not pick up some wine for later? Tasting rooms are closed but you can order for easy curbside pickup. Check the list of winery offerings and see hours and special deals.

Takeout is always a fun option, but you’ve got spare time to get more adventurous with cooking now. Try a recipe from Elk Cove Vineyard’s “Lockdown Kitchen.” Anna Campbell shows you how to make dishes like pasta puttanesa, mushroom risotto and Japanese milk buns. Mix up your routine and challenge your skills with one of her recipes. They suggest a perfect wine pairing, which you can pick up curbside at the winery in Gaston.

Finish the night with dessert from one of our amazing bakeries. Decadent Creations makes declicious cakes, pies, cookies and more that will satisfy any sweet tooth.
