Small Tourism Grant Recipients
Three upcoming projects have been awarded grants by the Washington County Visitors Associations’ Small Tourism Grant Program.
Projects the WVCA Board of Directors believe have extraordinary merit and will positively impact and increase overnight visitation are selected to receive grants of up to $7,500. This is a pilot program for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.
North Willamette Vintners received $7,500 for its Spring Wine Tasting Weekend. The two-day wine tasting event will feature a collaborative tasting on the first day and special tastings at individual wineries on the following day. There will be other promotions and partnerships promoting other aspects of the region during the weekend (food and wine pairings, golfing, nature, agritourism, gardening, etc.).
SakeOne received $7,500 for its Pacific Rim Festival 2020. This festival highlights and celebrates the tastes, sounds, and cultures of the Pacific Rim. There will be a selection of craft and artisanal local vendors and a few east Asian inspired food trucks. The entertainment will be provided by local performers, including Halau dancing, Obon dancing, Taiko drumming, live music and Judo demonstration.
Sherwood Chamber of Commerce received $7,500 for its 30th Anniversary of Cruisin’ Sherwood Classic & Custom Car show. The television show “My Classic Car with Dennis Gage”, which is the longest running weekly automotive television series in the US, will be attending and producing a full episode on the 30th anniversary event and the town of Sherwood. They also will be hosting a World of Speed exhibit inside the Sherwood Center for the Arts during the car show.
The deadline to apply for the next round of awards is 5 p.m. on January 31, 2020.
