Ten Places to Walk from the Light Rail

Travelers to the Portland Region are lucky to have an easy, car-free way to get around. You can ride TriMet’s MAX light rail from the Portland International Airport all the way to Hillsboro. Along the way, you can stop and enjoy much of what Tualatin Valley has to offer.

Here are ten places you can go less than one mile from key transit stations:

MAX Stop: Beaverton Central

The Westgate Bourbon Bar and Taphouse — The pub and taphouse with hundreds of spirits to chose from is about a five minute walk from Beaverton Central.

BG’s Food Cartel — Beaverton’s first and largest food cart is a stone’s throw from the MAX station. Enjoy a huge variety of choices with indoor and outdoor seating.

Ava Roasteria Tasting Room –– The newly-renovated tasting room serves micro-roasted beans you can try in various brew methods.

MAX Stop: Orenco Station

Little Big Burger — You’ll get a small but mighty gourmet hamburger, cheeseburger or Beyond burger and truffle fries fast at the chain founded in Portland.

The Orenco hotel is nestled into an upscale area with brownstones, shopping and dining.

MAX Stop: Hillsboro Transit Center

Hillsboro Pharmacy and Fountain — A functional pharmacy with so much more to offer! Stop by for a malt and a step back in time at the old-fashioned lunch counter established in the 1890s.

Bennett Urban Farm Store — The local coffee roasters sell carefully sourced beans and goods from local artisans at the store in historic downtown Hillsboro.

The Vault Theater — Catch a show from the local theater group, Bag&Baggage, which seeks to explore classic works through innovative productions.

Decadent Creations — Chopped Champion Mindy Simmons serves up cakes, cookies and pastries along with rolls and biscuits — all made from scratch!

Perks of Art — This indoor art market is a unique place for local artisan work. The shop also serves coffee and wine and offers classes for all skill levels.

Hop on the MAX light rail from Portland and stay and play in Beaverton and Hillsboro.
