Amazing Views to Experience in Tualatin Valley

There are beautiful views aplenty in Tualatin Valley and if you know where to look, you can experience the best views alongside nature, wine and good food.

L.L. Stub Stewart State Park in Buxton is the perfect place to enjoy views of the surrounding area. From the park’s Hilltop day-use area visitors have a picture-perfect westward view of the Cascade mountain range. Wander through the park’s 30 miles of trails and you will see views of colorful wildflowers, trickling streams, and spacious meadows. The park also offers year-round RV, cabin, tent and horse camping, an interpretive center, and two disc golf courses.

From Raptor Ridge Winery’s tasting room and outdoor patio, visitors can sip delicious Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and other quality wine while enjoying a view of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. Part of the new Laurelwood District American Viticulture Area (AVA), Raptor Ridge Winery sits on Laurelwood soils, which contribute to the unique flavor of its wines. While visiting the winery, its likely visitors will see native red-tailed hawks, Peregrine falcons, barn owls, and great horned owls flying above.

Located at the highest point of the Chehalem Mountains, Bald Peak State Scenic Viewpoint offers beautiful views among the tall Douglas Fir trees. Open for day use year-round, the state park and viewpoint have views of Tualatin Valley to the north and Yamhill Valley to the south. From the scenic viewpoint on a clear day, visitors can see Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Rainer. The park offers picnic tables, restrooms, and a few short trails to more views.

Opening in July 2021, Amaterra Wines will offer visitors a state-of-the-art winery, tasting room and restaurant overlooking the beautiful Tualatin Valley below. Located in the West Hills (aka the Tualatin Mountains), the winey will be the closest estate winery to downtown Portland. Enjoy a glass of wine or a locally sourced dish on the deck or from inside – both offer a great view!

As the warm weather and sunshine returns to the valley, these locations make for the perfect stop to take in all 360 degrees of Tualatin Valley.
