Portland Community College, Rock Creek Campus

Perched on the edge of the urban growth boundary west of Portland, PCC Rock Creek is surrounded by forest, wetland, farmland and suburb. Three acres of “land lab” shelter projects for the college’s landscape technology programs. SIPs, straw bale, foam core construction, eco-roofing and earthen ovens dot the campus, a testament to the diverse learning opportunities offered by PCC’s building construction technology programs. Students graze on cafeteria food from organic learning gardens, and a composting area endeavors to close that loop. Rock Creek may well be the confluence of the Silicon Forest and Oregon’s commitment to green practices.
