PCC Rock Creek offers technical tours on sustainability for very specialized interest groups. The tours include an overview of PCC’s organic learning garden, pre- and post-consumer composting processes, SIPs, straw bale, foam core construction, eco-roofing and earthen ovens projects from the building construction technology programs, and additional sustainability programs. They also are home to a brand-new 35,000-square-foot solar array—the largest of its kind in the state. The 500-kilowatt array, consisting of 2,072 solar panels and covering more than 2acres, is a partnership between PCC and The Energy Trust of Oregon, SolarCity, SolarWorld and the Oregon Department of Energy. Sheep from the school’s farm graze between the panels. Groups of 20 or fewer can be accommodated for tours.
