Sherwood’s New Hub for Beer, Bites and Community
Sherwood has a new reason to raise a glass. BearKat Brewing (map it), a female-owned, community-focused brewery, is quickly becoming a gathering spot where locals can savor great beer, enjoy elevated bites and connect with friends old and new.
The welcoming space invites people of all backgrounds to relax, connect and elevate their perspectives through beer‑focused experiences. “We want to be a gathering place where our community comes together to celebrate good beer, good food and great company,” says co-owner and head brewer Shawn Bayer.
While the brewery honors the region’s rich brewing scene, their beers have a unique twist. “We’re passionate about honoring the incredible Pacific Northwest brewing tradition while putting our own spin on handcrafted artisan lagers and ales, with a special love for traditional German-style beers,” Shawn explains.
In addition to an eclectic range of handcrafted brews, including IPAs and ales, the menu features all-beef brisket hot dogs and flavorful flatbreads.
BearKat Brewing’s mission extends beyond its food and drink. The brewery partners with local nonprofits to support meaningful causes. Bayer explains, “We partner with nonprofits to make a real difference. For each collaboration, we’ll create a special brew with a chosen 501(c)(3) charity and donate 100% of release night sales for that beer directly to their cause. The remainder of the batch will continue supporting the organization with a substantial portion of ongoing sales.”
