Canadian Travel Study

Canadian Traveler Sentiment Study

A recent study by Longwoods International, a market research consultancy specializing in travel and tourism, found that 45% of Canadian travelers surveyed do not intend to travel to the U.S. in the next 12 months, while 11% intended to travel and canceled their plans. Only 13% of Canadian travelers who said they did plan travel to the U.S. have booked their travel.

When asked if current U.S. government policies, trade practices and/or political statements are influencing decisions to travel to the U.S. in the next 12 months, 53% answered that it makes them less likely to travel to the U.S. Conversely, 8% said it make them more likely to travel to the U.S. and 23% said it does not influence their travel plans.

According to a press release issued by US Travel Association earlier this year, Canada is the top source of international visitors to the United States, with 20.4 million visits in 2024, generating $20.5 billion in spending and supporting 140,000 American jobs.

In-bound Canadian travelers to Oregon also has decreased. This summer, spending by international travelers to was down 21%.  (Source: Oregon Journalism Project)

Washington County Hotel Performance
October 2025

Washington County’s hotels continue to experience a decrease in occupancy and revenue, according to the latest STR report. In the month of October. Occupancy at local hotels reached 63.5%, a 6.8% decrease from the same month in 2024. Average daily rate (ADR) also decreased from $133.90 in 2024 to $124.95 in 2025. Revenue per available room (RevPAR) also declined from $91.19 last year to $79.34 this year.
