Explore Tualatin Valley Awards More than $52,000 to Local Non-Profit Organizations for Tourism Development Projects
BEAVERTON, Ore. (Feb. 11, 2025) – Explore Tualatin Valley (ETV), a destination organization charged with marketing tourism to Washington County, Ore., awarded $52,500 to five non-profit organizations. The inaugural Foundation Award is a competitive strategic investment program open to non-profit, government and tribal organizations for tourism-related development projects.
Projects that received funding met ETV’s criteria, including projects that will inspire awareness and overnight visitation, serve as a platform for cultural and economic growth, and propel Explore Tualatin Valley forward in ETV’s efforts to promote the destination to visitors and enhance the quality of life of residents.
“This investment in local organizations underscores our commitment to enhancing Tualatin Valley’s tourism landscape,” said Dave Parulo, president and CEO of Explore Tualatin Valley. “By supporting projects that celebrate our region’s rich arts, culture and outdoor experiences, we aim to inspire visitors while enriching the communities we call home.”
The following projects were awarded strategic funding:
- Tualatin Valley Creates, an arts service organization for Washington County, for a communications hub and comprehensive artist directory.
- Dauntless Veteran Foundation, which trains and equips veterans to translate their talents from the field to the farm, for a boutique camping experience project.
- Raleigh Hills Business Association, a non-profit organization that supports the community and neighborhoods surrounding Raleigh Hills, for a mural project titled “Raleigh Hills Past, Present, and Future.”
- Hillsboro Parks and Recreation for development of a promotional tourism asset library.
- Forest Grove/Cornelius Chamber of Commerce for development of promotional tourism assets and itineraries.
Projects that aligned with ETV’s strategic plan were prioritized. These included projects that elevated Tualatin Valley as a premier destination for wine and craft beverages, arts and culture, recreation and agricultural tourism. Consideration also was given to capital projects and tour development projects. All projects were required to be compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act. Applications were accepted through Aug. 31, 2024, for fiscal year 2024-2025.
