2025 Tourism Impact Numbers for Washington County, Ore., Released
BEAVERTON, Ore. (May 06, 2025) – Tualatin Valley continues to attract a growing number of visitors, marking a significant milestone in its tourism sector’s economic contribution. The recent release of the preliminary report by Dean Runyan Associates, a Portland-based economic and marketing research firm, and commissioned by Travel Oregon, highlights the substantial impact of tourism on Washington County, Ore.
In 2024, Washington County saw a notable increase in visitor numbers, with more than 3.4 million overnight visitors recorded, representing a 5.3 percent rise compared to 2023.
Total in-county visitor spending also increased in 2024. Total spending by visitors to the destination rose to $836 million, an increase over 2023 of 1.6 percent. This bested last year’s record high of $791.6 million.
Tourism-related employment continued to grow in 2024 and the local tourism industry continues to be a significant employer in Washington County. According to the report, there were 9,240 jobs attributed to tourism-related activities, an increase of 150 jobs from the previous year.
Total tax revenue generated from tourism spending in 2024 amounted to $55.2 million, with $20.7 million contributing to local tax revenue and $34.5 million to state tax revenue.

According to STR Global, which tracks hotel performance data, hotels in Washington County also had a positive year. Total occupancy in 2024 was 69.5 percent, a 2.9 percent increase over 2023. Hotel revenue per available room (or RevPAR) was $93.87, a 5.9 percent increase over 2023. Washington County has 57 hotel properties, and total room inventory in the county is 6,037, a nearly one percent increase over the previous year.
A “visitor” is defined as a person who travels at least 50 miles beyond their residence, and includes overnight and day visitors. An overnight visitor is defined as an individual or party who stays in an accommodation–hotel, short-term vacation rental, campground or private home–in the destination they are visiting.
