At Hawks Mountain Ranch, purebred Icelandic sheep graze grassy hillside pastures on the top of a mountain that stretches across Scoggins and Patton Valleys in the town of Gaston. Two wineries are located very nearby and many others are within a short driving distance. Hawks Mountain Ranch, named for the many red tail hawks that soar above it, raises natural colored Pygora goats for fluffy fiber, friendly disposition, and show and pet qualities. Education is a focus on the farm and group tours may be available, and include information on subjects including pasture management, lambing and fiber processing. Appointments are required for groups.
