Things to Do in Tualatin, Oregon

Tualatin Valley Symphony is a local orchestra comprised of talented, volunteer musicians who perform orchestral works for the community on a regular basis. Members are non-professional, talented musicians who volunteer their time and skills to present regularly scheduled performances for the community. Repertoire includes classical symphonic ensemble musics, including works of composers from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Neo-Classical, and Contemporary eras.

From the May through September, Alder Creek offers family-friendly, paddle-away boat rentals at their rental location in Browns Ferry Park on the Tualatin River. Canoes, single and tandem recreational kayaks are available on a first-come, first-served basis (includes paddles and flotation devices). Instruction is also available.

With an award winning driving range, short game area, and miniature golf course, which are all lit for night use, Tualatin Island Greens offers everything any golfer could need all year-round including individual and group lessons. The driving range has 43 synthetic tee stations (25 covered and 12 heated) and grass tees during spring and summer. The miniature golf course has 18 holes including water hazards, sand bunkers, and undulating surfaces.

The facility also features their Island Grill, a restaurant which overlooks the driving range and offers a variety of cuisine, serving soup, sandwiches, pasta and wraps. The patio and restaurant is the perfect place for lunch or dinner.

Be sure to stop at the Island Greens golf shop which offers a variety of golf clubs and accessories. Helpful staff is available and the shop offers custom fitting, full-service club repair, and numerous clubs available for demo.

Tualatin Community Park is an active 27.11 acre park with a fantastic Skate Park. The award-winning skate park, designed for skateboarders and in-line skaters features various street-skating and free-style elements and includes a spectator area. The park also has three sports fields, tennis and basketball courts, a great playground, a dog park, five picnic shelters, and a boat ramp which allows access to the Tualatin River. The park is free and open to the public.

Open daily, dawn to dusk except for the lit areas (skate park, basketball and tennis courts), which are open until 10:30 p.m.

Atfalati Park is a 13.27 acre park with one softball field, one full basketball court and two half courts, two tennis courts, & a 70,000 sq ft multi-purpose sports field.

The Tualatin Heritage Center, operated by the Tualatin Historical Society, preserves the city’s oldest church as a present-day community resource offering information and events about the area’s rich and colorful history, its diverse cultures and the natural environment around Tualatin. The Heritage Center also serves as the home to Lumiere Players, Tualatin’s own theatre group and is especially noted for its displays of mastodon and ground sloth bones as well as erratic boulders deposited during the Missoula Floods some 15,000 years ago.

Ibach Park is a 19.4-acre park with a basketball court, a soccer field, a softball/baseball field, & two tennis courts.

Threat Dynamics’ training facility is the only facility of its kind in the world where civilians can experience cutting-edge threat response technology typically available to law enforcement and the military. The state-of-the art facility simulates firing ranges and real-world scenarios projected onto large, 300-degree HD screens to offer virtual-reality tactical shooting experiences for individuals and groups.

Acquaint yourself with local public art on the ArtWalk, a self-guided downtown tour of Tualatin’s diverse public art and natural and cultural history. The ArtWalk consists of several interconnected trails, each clearly marked—look for the map kiosks to determine the route and watch for the colorful trail markers leading the way to an enjoyable adventure.
