A Tualatin Valley Winter Getaway
Not all travelers are looking for snowy getaways during the winter months. In fact, some may seek out travel destinations that offer milder winter weather. While we cannot guarantee a snow-free getaway—Oregon weather is notoriously unpredictable—we do know that you will have a memorable visit in Tualatin Valley.
A Custom Cup o’ Joe
Start your Tualatin Valley getaway with a specialty coffee or tea drink from Symposium Coffee (visit their location in Tigard or in Sherwood). Symposium is one of Tualatin Valley’s best-kept secrets. Baristas carefully craft coffee and tea drinks that will stave off the chill of winter. Plus, they use the highest quality ingredients from local sources, such as Stumptown Coffee and Steven Smith Teamaker teas. Try the cardamom-infused latte for a real treat.
Artistry in the Making
Squeeze in a little “art therapy” at the new location of Live Laugh Love Art. Here, you can partake in a group or individual classes to create a glass-blown, acrylic paint, wood painting, or welding masterpiece. Tualatin Valley’s newest painting studios–Escape and Paint in Beaverton and Wine & Design in Tigard–also offer classes to allow you to express your personal artistry.
Take in some retail therapy at Bridgeport Village, a European-style shopping center with restaurants, spa, movie theater and, of course, shops. Do a little tax-free holiday shopping, or catch the latest flick on the big screen.
Stay overnight at The Grand at Bridgeport, located right next to Bridgeport Village or check out our other hotels and motels in the area >>>
Bird Watching in the Morning
In the morning, observe Birds of Prey at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. The winter months are prime sightings for bald eagles, red tail hawks, turkey vultures and other birds of prey. Watch these birds in action along the Refuge’s main trail, which is open year-round from dawn until dusk.
Quilt Barns and Wine
Head out into Tualatin Valley’s wine country and drive part of the Quilt Barn and Wine Trail. Explore the Tualatin Valley rural landscapes and keep your eyes out for quilt pattern art adorning barns in the valley.
Visit Plum Hill Vineyards (open daily, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; opens at noon on Sundays) where you can sample wine and enjoy the Double Wedding Ring quilt pattern of the winery’s quilt barn, while sampling Pinot Noir, Syrah and “Red Velvet” dessert wine.
Next, visit A Blooming Hill Vineyard and Winery (open Friday-Sunday, 12-5:30 p.m., or by appointment), which showcases a “New York Beauty” quilt barn, honoring the owners of the vineyard and winery who hail from the state of New York. During business hours, sample A Blooming Hills selection of wines, including the white blend, “Mingle.”
Lively Theater Productions
In the evening, seek out a theater performance by Tualatin Valley’s own professional theater companies Broadway Rose Theatre Company, Bag&Baggage Productions or the Experience Theatre Project.
