A Boomer’s Spring Break

Getaways for Empty Nesters

If you’re bummed (or jealous) your kids are spending spring break off in some sunny spot without you — don’t be! There’s plenty of fun to be had in for boomers to enjoy a kid-free spring break. Get out an enjoy it with all Oregon’s Tualatin Valley has to offer.

Get your spring vacay started with a big cup of coffee or latte from Symposium Coffee in Sherwood or Tigard. Not only do they make a mean lavender latte, Symposium has a well-rounded selection of spirits if you want to try a whiskey coffee cocktail.

Browse for Antiques

If you love wandering through antique malls and hunting for rare and retro items, look no further than Tualatin Valley. Many of our city main streets feature fun and funky antique shops, from Le’Stuff Antique Mall in downtown Hillsboro to Curiosities Vintage Mall in Tigard. You can easily spend hours hunting for hidden treasures here.

Hit the Greens

Whether you’re a serious golfer or just a casual player, Tualatin Valley has options. Our lush greens surrounded by natural beauty are a golfer’s dream. The area is home to more than a dozen golf clubs, including two world-class, semi-private clubs. There’s also mini golf and disc golf and if you prefer a climate controlled environment with food and drinks delivered right to you — Topgolf might be your spot. This premier entertainment center is the perfect place to practice your swing or just hit balls for fun. If you’ve never been to Topgolf, imagine a game similar to bowling where you hit balls at goals in a missive field.

Tour a Winery

Whether you’re new to wine or already enjoy Oregon’s bounty of Pinot noir, head to one of our 30 wineries and try something tasty. Many wineries have upgraded their outdoor seating, which is perfect for a glass on a sunny spring day. While you’re in wine country, don’t miss out on the scenic drive along the way. The Vineyard and Valley Scenic Tour Route is one great option, but Tualatin Valley also has a Quilt Barn Trail with nearly 60 squares to admire.

After you see the sights, head back to town to grab a bite. Tualatin Valley has a wide variety of international cuisine as well as popular brewpubs, like Hillsboro’s ABV.
